Gira Powerline Communication System

Internet and network throughout the entire home –
easily via the mains supply

Surf the Internet, stream HD videos using a smart TV or distribute data throughout the entire home – easily via the mains supply. With the Gira Powerline Communication System, IP networks in buildings can be easily retrofitted or expanded. This is due to the fact that the conventional 230 V mains supply is used for data transfer rather than a network cable. Various components are available to set up a Powerline network of this type. They allow the signals of the connected network devices to be converted and distributed securely via the mains supply.

In this way, a wide variety of devices such as smart TVs, computers, tablets or printers can be networked locally or connected to the Internet without having to lay cables or deal with transmission problems caused by weak WLAN signals.

Possible applications

Video entertainment using a smart TV.

Surfing the Internet at up to 200 Mbit/s.

Reliable networking of office technology.

Wireless Internet access with smartphones or tablets.

Fast and secure data transfer thanks to the HomePlug AV standard

All of the components of the Gira Powerline Communication System use the widespread HomePlug AV standard to convert, feed and transfer the signals. This ensures that no disruptions result between the transfer of electricity and data. Thanks to a data transfer rate of up to 200 Mbit/s, applications and services which require a high bandwidth can be used without problems. These include HD streaming and video on demand. Accessing the extra HbbTV services of the various television stations is also possible. Like in conventional IP networks, it is only possible to use the Gira Powerline network after entering a password. When doing so, powerful 128-bit AES encryption protects personal data. If a connected device is inactive, the network connection boxes and the Mini socket outlet adapter automatically switch to power-saving mode, which reduces current consumption by up to 50%. The WLAN adapter can be switched off at the press of a button.

Simple start-up and configuration

The Gira HomePlug Assistant allows simple start-up and configuration of the Gira Powerline network. For example, the intuitive software supports users in adding new devices or encrypting the network with a password. Alternatively, the network can be started up step-by-step using the push button method on the individual components. In this way, the network can also easily be expanded with additional devices later.
