The Gira System 3000 operating top units for meticulous
lighting control

The operating top units for the Gira System 3000 lighting controllers feature intuitive operation and clear button labelling. Different variants enable personalised operating convenience, optionally by manual actuation or touch top unit, by Bluetooth or by eNet radio. Even simple operating top units save customised switch-on brightness. The functions of the memory and display devices range from simple time control to comprehensive control options with the Bluetooth timer. Simple settings can be adjusted directly on the device without any tools, comprehensive programming is carried out easily and conveniently using the Gira System 3000 App on a smartphone or tablet. The motion detectors for automatic lighting control can also be programmed in the same way in the System 3000.

Intuitive operation and programming with the Gira System 3000 blind timer and timer display

The system automatically detects that the operating element is mounted on the control insert for light. Touch-sensitive buttons and a high-contrast, illuminated display make the timer display easier than ever to operate. The functions range from direct manual settings to automatic control options.

In addition to manual operation, the current time can be taken for all seven days at the touch of a button in order to program the switching times. Alternatively, custom settings can be made separately for weekdays and the weekend via the menu. The changeover between summer and winter time is automatic.

Easy operation using the Gira System 3000 App

Conveniently program and control from the comfort of your own sofa whenever you need to: The operating top unit of the Gira System 3000 Bluetooth blind timer and timer takes light control to a new level. Your smartphone or tablet becomes a control centre. The Gira System 3000 App gives you a clear overview of all the settings for different light sources on a large screen, putting you in complete control. Time programs that have already been created can be easily copied into additional operating top units. With the v1.4 update, all existing Bluetooth top units can be updated via the app. From Autumn onwards, top units will automatically have the update.

The Gira System 3000 operating top unit memory can not only save a customised dimming level but also a time setting for it. If memory mode is activated, this is repeated at 24-hour intervals. In night mode, the status and function LED are not permanently illuminated – meaning that sleep is not disturbed.

The Gira Bluetooth wall transmitter sits flush against the wall and can be glued or screwed directly onto a surface using the base plate supplied.

The existing Gira System 3000 top units can be easily replaced with a Gira eNet wireless operating top unit or placed directly on System 3000 flush-mounted inserts. In combination with the eNet wireless wall transmitter, this allows an additional switching point to be added in the room. For even more convenience, the eNet wireless operating top unit can also be used with the Gira eNet server to enable control with a smartphone, tablet or voice control.

Motion and presence detector

For more security and greater convenience, the System 3000 offers components for automatic, motion-dependent lighting control. The motion detectors and presence detectors from Gira automatically switch on the lighting when there is movement in the detection field and off again after a set delay time has elapsed - which is convenient and saves energy.

The motion detector top unit controls the lighting depending on the movement and brightness. It automatically switches on the lighting when there is movement in the detection field and when it is dark enough. The lighting is switched off:

The motion detector top unit controls the lighting depending on the movement and brightness. It automatically switches on the lighting when there is movement in the detection field and when it is dark enough.
The lighting is switched off:

• When no more movement is detected and the set delay time has expired or

This is convenient and saves energy. Thanks to the special lens design, the motion detector top unit has a large detection field. You can make the settings conveniently using your smartphone and the Gira System 3000 App.

System 3000 presence and motion detector
BT 360° top unit

The BT 360° top unit presence and motion detector controls the lighting indoors depending on the movement and brightness. It automatically switches on the lighting if there is motion in the detection field and when it is sufficiently dark. The lighting is switched off:

• When no more movement is detected and the set delay time has expired or
• When it is bright enough again and the set delay time has expired.

This is convenient and saves energy. Thanks to its special lens design, the BT 360° top unit presence and motion detector has a large detection field. Mounting heights of up to six metres allow it to be used in corridors or staircases.

You can make the settings conveniently using the Gira System 3000 App.

Flush-mounted inserts

A modular system consisting of power inserts and operating top units offers the greatest possible scope for implementing functions. It can be operated manually with a control button as well as by electronic time control. Central functions can also be implemented via the auxiliary inputs, for example with a master button.

The relay switching insert switches different light sources, e.g. LEDs, halogen lamps or fluorescent lamps and motors. The TEST button with LED display can be used to conveniently set delay times if desired.

2-gang relay switching insert

The 2-gang relay switching insert in combination with a 2-gang operating top unit can switch two independent outputs with different light sources, e.g. LEDs, halogen lamps, fluorescent lamps or motors. A time function can be activated for the second output. In combination with an operating top unit, both outputs are switched together. A switch-on delay of three minutes can be activated and a delay time can be set (e.g. for a light and fan in the bathroom) for the second output.

Electronic switching insert

The electronic switching insert switches light bulbs,
HV halogen lamps, electronic or inductive transformers with halogen or LED lights as well as dimmable HV LED or compact fluorescent lamps. The electronic switching insert can be operated with or without a neutral conductor. The set operating mode is indicated by an LED.

The switching insert for special requirements: It can be used to switch different voltages, such as low voltages and other external conductors, in combination with heating systems using auxiliary power meters.

Impulse insert

The impulse insert can be used in combination with an operating top unit or motion detector to manually or automatically control the light in the staircase on a floor-by-floor basis. In combination with the DRA staircase light timers, existing staircase installations can be converted to an automatic lighting control without having to rewire.

The DRA universal LED dimmer is used to switch and dim the lighting. An advantage is that no new lines have to be laid when renovating. It can be mounted directly onto the existing installation. The required components disappear centrally in a sub-distribution. The DRA dimmer is mounted in the sub-distribution on top-hat rails according to DIN EN 60715.

The DRA universal LED power booster is a modular extension for dimmers based on the power requirement. This allows even large LED loads to be conveniently switched and dimmed. The power booster is operated via the upstream dimmer.

The one-channel DALI Power control unit flush-mounted insert is used to control lights with a DALI interface and DALI ballasts with and without Tunable White function. It is operated with the Gira operating top units or timers or by motion and presence detectors.

Easy and flexible installation

The Gira System 3000 has many practical features for simplified installation and start-up. With an extra-flat installation depth of only 24 millimetres, the new inserts now leave more space in the flush-mounted box and thus offer more flexibility when wiring. Recessed mounting claws make the installation easier and ensure greater safety. The connected consumers can be started up with a test button for function control without an operating top unit. The basic power is only 0.2 to 0.5 W, depending on the operating top unit.

Installation steps

Thanks to the recessed mounting claws, the flush-mounted inserts can be easily mounted in the flush-mounted box. With an installation depth of only 24 mm they leave a great deal of space in the flush-mounted box and thus offer more flexibility for wiring.

The selected frame is mounted on the flush-mounted insert before the operating top unit is inserted.

The frame and operating top unit create a harmonious overall picture on the wall. With ten design lines and over 75 frame variants, Gira’s design system opens up a wide range of design options.
